Apple iPhone: Mobile users unwilling to pay a premium
Online market research firm Compete surveyed 379 people in the United States and discovered that most of the users were not willing to pay a premium for the upcoming Apple iPhone device.
However, most respondents said that if the price drops they’ll switch their mobile service to AT&T Inc.
Interestingly, most of the surveyed mobile users had heard about the Apple iPhone and have even shopped for an iPod in the past.
The survey found out that 26 percent people were willing to get an Apple iPhone. However, just 1% of them were willing to pay $500 for it.
42% of the surveyed people said that they had go for the device if it was offered from $200 to $299.
Apple would be launching their iPhone device only through Cingular Wireless which is now a subsidiary of AT&T.
Market analysts have said that after the initial rush, Apple is likely to drop the price of the device by around USD 100-200 to generate sales.
