Google and Microsoft post gains in search engine market
Search engine industry leader Google continues to improve its market share in the US. The company managed to capture 47.5% of search queries as per the data published by the Internet metrics firm comScore Networks.
This means that the company gained 0.2 percentage point compared to previous month. The other gainer was surprisingly Microsoft which posted a small gain of 0.1 percentage points to reach 10.6%.
Yahoo! lost a bit of their market share in this segment. Their share of the market dropped to 28.1%, a loss of 0.4 percentage points.
Ask too was a looser as their share dropped 0.2 percentage points to a total of 5.2% during the month of January.
AOL also reported minor gains in their market share in searches conducted in the US market. comScore further reported that the month of January saw 6.9 billion search queries which is a gain of 26% from the same month a year ago.
