Google now has a problem with Gmail.cn domain ownership
We recently reported on how Google is fighting legally to get access to the gmail.pl. Now, they are having similar problems getting control of the Chinese domain Gmail.cn.
This domain is operated by the Beijing-based ISM Technologies. Google on their part recently started offering free webmail services to their users in the Chinese market.
The company operates this Gmail webmail service worldwide at the domain Gmail.com. Market sources revealed: “Google has contacted Gmail.cn about the Web address and logo issue, but there is no progress so far.”
ISM Technologies on their part claims to be the largest wholesale Internet domain registrar accredited with Chinese government-backed Internet body CNNIC. They seem to have refused to give Google the control of the domain.
It is still not clear whether Google plans to sue them to get access to Gmail.cn.
