Google to offer YouTube.com antipiracy tools to everyone

Search engine company Google has said that they plan to offer their anti-piracy technologies to help all copyright holders find infringing content uploaded on their YouTube.com service.

This comes just as the media companies around the world are criticizing them on their initial decision to make these tools available to their partners in the project.

Google Chief Executive Officer Eric Schmidt said in a statement on this new development: “We are definitely committed to (offering copyright protection technologies). It is one of the company’s highest priorities. We just reviewed that (issue) about an hour ago. It is going to roll out very soon … It is not far away.”

YouTube.com needs these tools to stay away from legal hassles from original content developers.
