NBA Channel on YouTube.com
Google owned video sharing website YouTube.com now has added a “NBA Channel” Web section. This section would feature user-posted basketball videos and original content from the National Basketball Association.
Chad Hurley, Co-Founder of YouTube spoke on this feature addition: “By delivering a wide array of programming to YouTube, the NBA will be able to connect with its existing worldwide fan base and reach a vast new audience that is passionate about basketball.”
YouTube and the NBA added in a statement that NBA fans can submit their own clips through a “Post Up the NBA” section available on the service.
This YouTube deal with NBA is similar to deals signed with CBS Corp. and Robert Redford’s Sundance Channel.
NBA would now also be participating in the program started by the service to enable them to claim unauthorized clips on service. They can get the infringing videos removed or share revenues with the service.
