Microsoft admit Google came as a wakeup call
Senior Microsoft Ray Ozzie has admitted that search engine giant Google emerged as a wakeup call for the company as it raked in the advertising revenues and continues to do so.
Ozzie added that the company has a broader plan in mind rather than just mimic Google and their application and services.
Interestingly, Ozzie is the individual who is replacing Bill Gates as chief software architect at Microsoft which is the largest software company in the world.
He further admitted: There is a sea change going on in the industry.”
Ozzie talked about Google’s entry into the office productivity tool market with the launch of Google Docs and Spreadsheets. He said that Microsoft has successfully managed to tackle threats from both desktop and Web-based programs in the past. This was mainly due to the fact that rival companies compromised functionality.
