IBM to incorporate Google Gadgets on their tools and services
US based tech giant IBM has signed on a deal with search engine company Google. The deal would see IBM adding Google YouTube and other services into IBM software used by millions of office workers.
This deal brings together two of the biggest IT giants in the United States.
IBM plans to make available 4,000 existing Google Gadgets services to the millions of users of their IBM WebSphere. These would be allowed to be added on their public sites or internal office intranets.
Some of the tools to be included in this initiative are services like maps, language translators, package delivery trackers or instantly updating weather and news services, audio search and Wikipedia.
Larry Bowden, vice president of the IBM Lotus division for portals and Web services spoke about this agreement: “These sites are not just valuable to consumers. Businesses want the same content. Why would we keep these two universes separate?”
