Fox Broadcasting to make available TV series for download
Fox Broadcasting is expected to announce that they would make available popular television series for download to own.
These downloads would be made available on more than 200 of its affiliated stations during the next few months.
This new plan would be expansion of their existing plan Fox on Demand to offer streaming free ad-supported episodes on Fox.com, MySpace and other websites.
Web users would now be allowed to purchase individual episodes or entire seasons. Some of the shows planned to be offered through this initiative are “24” and “Prison Break“.
A single episode is likely to be priced at $1.99. Whole seasons would cost between $19.99-$39.99.
Ron Berryman, senior VP and GM of Fox Interactive Media Stations Group spoke on these plans: “Times are changing, and from our perspective the business is being developed across the Internet, and we’re taking a look at all the opportunities. We’re testing distribution models out as everyone else is.”
