Samsung is now mass producing the 60-Nano memory chips
South Korean tech giant Samsung has said that they have now started the mass production of their memory chips using 60-nanometer-class process technology.
This is impressive considering most of their competitors are still using 80-nanometer technology.
Samsung claims that these new chips increase production efficiency by 40 percent over the 80-nanometer technology. The company further believes that improved productivity will cut costs and help 60-nano 1 gigabit DRAM chips become a mainstream item in 2008.
Samsung said in a statement released to the media: “The mass production of 60-nano DRAMs is more meaningful since it provides a solid basis for Samsung to sustain our leadership in 50-nano and 40-nano technology.”
The company is further hoping that the 60-nano DRAM revenue will reach $2.3 billion worldwide this year.
