NASA delays trip to moon due to budget cuts
US Space Agency NASA has said in a statement that they are now delaying the first manned flight of the new spacecraft which has been designed to take the man back on the moon.
This is due to the financial constraints NASA is facing due to budget cuts. NASA has been working on a craft they have named Orion and they had originally aimed to take it to space by 2014.
The latest information available is that the space agency has now delayed the launch by at least 4-6 months.
NASA administrator Michael Griffin said in a statement on this new development: “We simply do not have the money available” to fly in 2014 as originally planned.
He added: “The net result of the decrease will be a four- to six-month delay of the Orion crew vehicle.” NASA is facing this problem due to the lack of money reserved for it by the Congress.
