V Cast Mobile TV: Verizon Wireless launches Mobile TV service
Verizon Wireless has announced that they have now launched their mobile television service. This service has been made available in about 20 Midwestern and Western markets.
Verizon would be charging between $15 to $25 a month for the initial lineup. The launch would see availability of content from eight leading networks.
Interestingly, Verizon announcement came just after Modeo showcased their mobile television service. Another service provider MobiTV has also just announced that they now have a subscriber base of more than 2 million customers.
Verizon’s V Cast Mobile TV is being provided over a separate wireless network operated by Qualcomm. Customers would be required to go in for a new compatible handset.
The company is currently planning to provide content from CBS Mobile, Comedy Central, ESPN, Fox Mobile, MTV, NBC 2Go, NBC News 2Go and Nickelodeon.
