Lenovo recalling about 205,000 laptop computer batteries worldwide
Personal computer maker Lenovo has announced that they are now recalling about 205,000 laptop computer batteries worldwide.
These laptop batteries can overheat and can cause fire. This is the second such recall by the company in the past six months.
This also comes at a time when Lenovo is trying hard to catch up with market leaders to become a global giant.
This latest announced recall includes about 100,000 batteries in the United States and another 105,000 worldwide. The batteries have been manufactured by Sanyo (thankfully no Sony this time around).
Lenovo said in a statement that the consumers should stop using the recalled products immediately.
Martin Kariithi of Technology Business Research spoke on this latest recall: “I don’t think at this point it negatively affects the company given last year there was practically an industry wide recall based on the batteries. It’s not likely to have an impact on earnings because the manufacturer pays for the costs of a recall.”
