German Aerospace Centre plans a mission to moon
The German Aerospace Centre (DLR) has said in a statement that they are planning to launch an unmanned flight to the moon by 2013.
DLR Director Walter Doellinger said: “We aim to launch a national moon mission.” He added that they currently have no plans for a possible manned mission to moon.
They are aiming to put a probe into orbit around the moon for four years. With this they are planning to chart the entire surface of the moon.
He added: “The probe will examine the moon’s surface and provide indications of significant geological formations that could later be of interest for drilling.”
Some other countries with similar plans include China, Japan, India, Italy and Britain. USA on the other hand wants to take a man on moon once again.
