Marvel: BBC and IBM to work together on video searching technologies
UK based media group BBC has revealed that they are going to work with tech giant IBM to develop new generation technologies.
The first of these projects would involve developing a video search system to hunt videos on CBeebies and CBBC programmes.
Ashley Highfield, the BBC director of future media and technology said in a statement: “All current video search technology – on the likes of YouTube as well – only works using meta tags or key words added to the videos, not the content itself.”
He added: “That is fine if everything is meta-tagged at a high level, otherwise you just won’t find the video you are after.”
