Picasa Web Albums: Bigger threat for Flickr now
Google has updated their Picasa Web Albums and the service is now much more of a threat to Yahoo! owned Flickr photo sharing service.
The updated service provides 1 GB of storage to non-paying users. There is a possibility that this space might increase bit by bit like Google does it for their Gmail webmail service.
Google has also enabled public searching on the service and users can opt out if they want to by not making their images available for public search.
Google’s blogger service is now linked to Picasa Web Albums and the images uploaded through Blogger are added to albums on this service. This makes it easier to keep track of your uploaded images on the Blogger service powered blogs.
Yahoo! owned Flickr provides 100 MB uploading capability per month to free account holders. If Google does provide an ever increasing space on their Picasa Web Albums, casual users would have little incentive to buy a pro account on Flickr.
