Symantec claims adult spam is going down
Security application maker Symantec has said in a research report that spammers around the world are now concentrating more on health-related products and general product pitches.
As a result, adult pornographic spam dropped to an all-time low in February. In comparison, spam related to health-related products and other general product pitches are growing.
The company added that spammers are also now increasingly localizing content of their mails to suit the targeted web users. Symantec said that there was a rise in gambling-related spam in German, Italian and French, while previously it was only mostly in English.
The bad news is that image spam is increasing massively as it is hard for antispam utilities to catch them. The company said that around 38 percent of the spam sent in February used images in messages.
