Michael Eisner launches Vuguru internet studio
Former Walt Disney Co. Chief Executive Michael Eisner’s investment firm has launched a new studio which would specifically develop and distribute videos for the Internet, portable media devices and cellphones.
This new startup is named Vuguru and it would be their attempt to capture the online video market. They have already signed for its first project named “Prom Queen”.
The studio would develop this 80-episode mystery consisting of 90-second installments. The people behind the startup said that this show would make its debut in April and would be broadcasted on the Vuguru’s site PromQueen.tv along with online magazine Ellegirl.com and YouTube.
Eisner spoke in an interview on this new project: “The entire concept here is content is king. What will drive traffic is interest in the subject matter.”
He further said that they might venture into making full length movies in the near future. The project is different from services like YouTube in a way that they do not allow people to submit their own content. The company would be broadcasting their own developed videos.
