Samsung could develop a cheaper version of Q1 UMPC
South Korean tech giant Samsung has said that they are considering developing a cheaper variant of their recently launched Q1 ultra mobile personal computer.
This cheap version would be produced to enhance the consumer interest and increase the sales. H.S. Kim, executive vice president and general manager of Samsung’s computer division spoke about this project: “In order to have more users who can afford this kind of product, we are thinking of coming up with a second version.”
The new Samsung Q1 Ultra would be made available in the retail stores around the world in May. It is expected to be priced in the similar range to the original Q1 edition which went for around USD 1300.
They expect to do much better in terms of sales with Q1 Ultra. The original Q1 was somewhat of a disappointment with sales of less than 100,000 units.
Samsung said that they are also considering developing a variant which would come with their hybrid hard disk product to boost the speed of the device.
