Flickr adds Collections or Sets of Sets
Yahoo! owned online photo sharing service Flickr as added a new feature named Collections on their service. The developers claim that this was one of the highly requested features by Flickr users.
Collections would let the Flickr members categorize and organize their photo sets. In a way, Collections can be considered as sets of sets. The Flickr blog said:
A collection is a container into which you can place either sets or other collections, allowing you to create a hierarchy as deep as 5 collections. You can place as many of your sets into a collection as you like, and a set can be in as many different collections as you like.
Users are also free to set a new “mosaic” icon to represent these collections. They can manage their collections and make new ones in the Flickr Organizr section.
The service has also now added options for the members to customize their Flickr page layouts to suite their tastes.
