SanDisk releases an 8GB flash memory card
SanDisk has launched their 8GB flash memory card. This memory card is suitable for digital devices like cameras and handy cams.
With this, the company has doubled the capacities of their existing products in this segment. SanDisk in addition also launched a new micro memory card for mobile phones.
SanDisk claims that their 8GB SD High Capacity, or SDHC card is the highest capacity card of its kind in the SD format. This format was originally developed by SanDisk, Matsushita, and Toshiba for use in portable devices.
They launched this card at the CeBit trade show in Germany and it would be shipped to retailers starting next month.
The company said that this card is expected to cost around USD 190 in the market. It would come with a SanDisk MicroMate USB 2.0 reader at no additional charge.
SanDisk’s other major release was the Mobile Premier line of MicroSD memory cards aimed at the mobile-phone market. These cards come with SanDisk’s TustedFlash copyright-protection technology. These would be shipped in 1GB and 2GB capacities.
