Warner’s Total HD format could be in market by June this year

Movie studio Warner revealed their plans to sell movies in their own hybrid format named Total HD few months back. The company is continuing promoting this format as a solution to the competition between Toshiba’s HD DVD and Sony’s Blu-Ray format.

Warner has now indicated that initial limited-capacity discs could be ready for market as soon as June this year. The disc is designed in such a way that it offers support for Blu-ray version on one side of the disc, and an HD DVD version on the other.

They plan to sell it for a price which is slightly more than the price of either of the formats. In the end, the customer would get discs which would be playable on both Blu-Ray and HD DVD players. Playstation 3 would of course be supported as well.

The company however has not offered any timetable for a full-capacity HD DVD 30GB/Blu-ray 50GB version.
