ABC Family and Lycos would showcase Wildfire online

ABC Family cable network has said that the season finale of the “Wildfire” show would be broadcasted on an interactive session on Lycos.com as they aim to explore the possibility of TV online.

Vickie Collier, director of digital media for Walt Disney Co.’s ABC Family spoke on this new initiative: “I think we are trying to find new ways to bring our content to life online.”

This show would get the online telecast on March 26 on the service recently launched by online portal Lycos. Viewers would be invited to participate in discussion groups and they would be allowed to watch the show together.

The show broadcast would support pause, fast-forward and rewind functions. This episode would be made available ad-free online for a period of six days. Overall, it is an interesting concept which shows how the web users might watch television in the coming years with interactivity features.

A viewing party is a really cool idea for a show. I could defintely see this catching on.

Impressive that Wildfire is the first to do this
