Gates: Microsoft would promote PC training in Colombia
Microsoft chairman Bill Gates has revealed that the software company is now trying to help establish computer learning centers in Colombia as the nation struggles to recover from violence.
Microsoft said that they would focus on getting people online as they are going to promote computer centers in libraries.
Microsoft would be donating $1 million over three years to establish these centers in the country’s worst affected regions.
Microsoft has signed two agreements with the government in Colombia as they aim to promote Microsoft products in this nation. Interestingly, this comes at a time when several other countries are trying to expand the availability of open source products in government operations.
The company would also offer the Colombian government database software that will assist them to track demobilized fighters and internal refugees forced from their homes.
