Dell launches a low cost computer in China

World’s second largest personal computer maker Dell has launched a low-cost PC targeting consumer in China. The company aims to take away market share from the leaders in the Chinese market Lenovo.

This new product targets the first time buyer in this market which is the second largest internet community in the world.

Dell’s new low cost machine costs between 2,599 Yuan to 3,999 Yuan. Dell Chief Executive Michael Dell added that they plan to launch similar products in other emerging markets to gain more customers.

He said: “We’re certainly going to look at other markets where it makes sense to bring our other products.”

Market analyst Bryan Ma, research director at research firm IDC spoke about Dell: “Consumers are accustomed to buying things with cash, touching and feeling a product in a store and getting instant gratification, rather than calling into a call center or placing an order online and waiting a few days for the machine to arrive.”
