HCL Infosystems launches environment notebooks in India
HCL Infosystems has announced that they are now launching eco-efficient Notebook PCs in the country. Incidentally, this announcement came just hours after international environmental NGO Greenpeace alleged its laptops were not environment-friendly.
The company said in a statement that their new range of laptops are compliant with the RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) directive and are completely safe for users and environment.
Greenpeace had claimed in their report that the machines sold by the company in the market had a number of highly toxic substances like lead, bromide PVC and phthalates.
HCL Infosystems Executive Vice President George Paul responded in a statement: “HCL, as a socially responsible corporate citizen, has a comprehensive programme to ensure protection of environment, health and safety of all its stakeholders and recognizes the need to minimize the hazardous impact of e-wastes of its products on the environment. As part of this programme, we had initiated voluntary compliance to RoHS directives for all our products.”
