Nintendo selling DS in huge numbers
Nintendo is selling its new portable gaming machine DS in huge numbers despite Sony entering the same market with their PSP next week. Reports say that DS is selling at a rate higher than what was anticipated by the company initially!
The company has already sold more than five lakh units of the innovative dual screen gaming console in the states. The console made its debut on November 21. Sony is set to release PSP on December 12 in Japan. The handheld gaming console market is worth around USD 4 Billion and Nintendo had a record marketing budget of USD 40 million for the DS console.
DS shipments reached a figure of five lakh units as against previous estimates of three lakh units by the company. Nintendo expects to sell 5 million DS units worldwide by the end of March. USA would get the taste of the PSP console that also supports playing audio and video only in march next year.
