Hyundai to export Getz from India

South Korean automaker Hyundai has said that they would shortly begin exporting their Getz car made in their Indian plants.

The company would send the first shipment of the Getz this coming Monday. HS Lheem, managing director, HMIL said in a statement that they aim to ship 40,000 units of Getz compact cars to Europe this year.

The first of these shipments are being sent to Germany. Lheem added that they would be making three different variants of Getz in the coming months. These variants would have 1.1 and 1.3 liter petrol and 1.5 liter diesel engines.

He added: “Going by the current indication, we (HMIL) will soon be the hub for all small car exports for Hyundai. I think, by end next year that should become a reality.”

Hyundai India is already exporting the Santro car to various export markets. The company aims to launch the much awaited diesel variant of their Getz car in the Indian market later this year. Lheem added on their other small car launch in India: “The new compact car - codenamed PA - will be made from the upcoming second plant. The commercial production will start in October.”
