Blogging is hip and hot, so is the word Blog

I have been personally blogging since March 2003. The trend started catching the attention of the common web user around the world when Google bought Blogger.com and started offering and promoting blogging services under their name.

Blogging has caught up the attention of everyone. From politicians who used it as a promotional tool to Michael Moore who used it to talk about his movies. Even news websites now have their writers maintaining Blogs. So much so that it has practically invaded the search engines. Search for anything and you are sure to receive Blog pages in almost every possible search.

Reports say that Blog was the most requested term on Merriam-Webster website in the year 2004. It has practically redefined the web-publishing scenario giving power to normal user to express himself. Interestingly, all the top positions on their statistics report showed news related items. The top ten words on the list are: “blog”, “incumbent”, “electoral”, “insurgent”, “hurricane”, “cicada”, “peloton”, “partisan”, “sovereignty” and “defenestration”.

The way blogging has stormed the Internet, there are no doubts that year 2004 on the Internet belonged to the Blogging industry…
