Baidu.com launches a Japanese language search engine
China’s leading search engine company Baidu.com has now launched a Japanese language search engine as they aim to expand their presence outside the Chinese market.
The Japanese language Baidu search engine is located at Baidu.jp. It looks similar to their primary search engine but offers fewer facilities at the moment.
Baidu.com has yet not made available their other services in Japanese on this new service like the Baidu Spaces blogging service and Baidu news.
They also lack a map service which could become a hit in the country which has a large number of mobile internet users.
Baidu Chairman and CEO Robin Li said in a statement that their expertise in the Chinese language would help them provide a great user experience in this new Japanese search engine.
However, they face a considerable challenge in this new market. Japan’s online search is largely dominated by Yahoo! Japan.
