Philips launches Xenium NRG mobile phone with AAA battery support
Philips Electronics has launched their Xenium NRG mobile phone. This new product is pretty interesting considering it comes with a built-in compartment for an ordinary AAA battery.
This battery can be used by the phone to power the unit when the main battery runs low. Philips has developed this new phone in collaboration with Energizer Holdings Inc. and Techtium Ltd.
Energizer is a specialist battery maker while Techtium is an Israeli chip maker specializing in battery management technology.
The company said that the user can use both rechargeable and disposable batteries in this phone. In case a rechargeable battery is used, the charger would charge both the phone’s regular battery and the AAA battery.
They further claim that a set of fully charged AAA cells can provide an additional three extra hours of talk time.
