Canada gets iTunes finally

Apple fans in Canada would be happy to know that iTunes has finally made it to their country. Canada users of iPod can now use Apple iTunes store to buy and download music at 99 cents per song. Apple is selling massive 7-lakh songs through iTunes Music Store.

The demand existed since a long time as USA got iTunes quiet sometime ago. Apple even went to Europe before they landed back in the American continent to enter the Canadian Market. The service was delayed after the initial plans put the release date in November.

Apple however managed to save the pre-Christmas buying season after having lost the November month. iTunes will also let prospective users to buy iPod from the official Apple store. Apple faces competition in the Canadian market from sites like Puretracks.ca and Archambault.ca some of which have already started to reduce prices fearing competition from the most successful digital music store in the world.

It however still is not clear whether iPod’s inability to play music bought from other stores would harm iTunes and iPod itself in the longer run. Microsoft is capitalizing on this aspect with their PlayForSure concept.
