YouTube clip mocking Thai king removed by the submitter

The submitter of the clip that mocked the Thai King has removed the clip from the YouTube service. The Thai government had blocked access to the video sharing service after Google refused to remove the clip on their own.

Apparently, the user decided to remove the clip after receiving abusive comments from the viewers of the offending clip.

Thai Communications Minister Sitthichai Pookaiyaudom said that there are still images left of the clip on the service and they would continue to block the service till they are removed as well. He said: “We want those photos off the site too.”

Sitthichai spoke about Google’s disappointing response to their request: “We have told them how deeply offended Thais were by the clip, but they said there was much worse ridicule of President Bush on the site and they kept that there. I don’t think they really care how we feel. Thailand is only a tiny market for them.”

Google had this to say about their decision to not remove clips featuring the Thai king: “YouTube reaches a wide global audience and strives to provide a community where people from around the world can express themselves by sharing videos in a safe and lawful manner.”
