YouTube gets more videos mocking Thai King
The original poster of the video which mocked the Thai King has removed the video from the Google owned YouTube.com service.
However, incoming reports suggest that at least two more videos have been posted on the service by other YouTube users.
Sitthichai Pookaiyaudom, the minister of information and technology had this to say about these new developments: “The Web site will remain blocked until all the video clips are removed.” The Thai government had blocked access to the service in the country after Google had rejected to remove the original clip from the service.
Sitthichai added that the creators of these videos are just aiming to create trouble. The newly uploaded videos are carrying messages profanities and said that Thailand’s “leaders are evil and hate free speech.”
Thai web users have generally said that the block is another sign of censorship by the military-installed government. Most media outlets have been supportive saying that Google and other web services should respect cultural sensitivities and not allow videos considered illegal in Thailand.
