EMI rivals worried about piracy with DRM free music
EMI recently shocked the market with their decision to sell DRM free music through Apple’s iTunes digital media store.
Not only Apple, but other stores too are going to sell EMI’s music and video releases without any DRM loaded on them.
Market analysts have said that this move from EMI would result in other music companies releasing their digital media on the net without DRM.
However, the rival companies like SonyBMG, Universal and Warner Music are said to be worried about the piracy aspect with this move.
DRM free music enables the user to play it on any number of digital players and computers. The music can be made available on a p2p network letting anyone get access to it.
One media industry executive had this to say about the EMI’s move: “We are perplexed as to why EMI has done this and surprised at their thoughtlessness.”

So simple, it’s not even funny…
Your music is already on the P2P network, most of the time in better quality then on Itune and for free.
Why would someone pay for something loaded whit drm and of less quality ?
Best move since Itune store for the music industry.

i don’t think that EMI haven’t thought about their move. It’s not nonsense. That day, EMI just set their music free. I would agree to Eric. Why would I buy something loaded with DRM and of less quality?
