Krugle now power the search on SourceForge.net

SourceForge has announced that they are now using the technology supplied by Krugle to power the search on their SourceForge.net online service.

The aim is to make it easier for the visitor to search for existing open-source projects hosted on the service. SourceForge play host to as many as 145,000 open-source projects and it could get pretty complicated for a web user to find something he is looking for.

This would also help the developers to concentrate on their projects rather than spending time on finding similar projects based on their own projects.

The company said that research has proven that developers waste a lot of time just searching for other projects which has the same capabilities as their own.

SourceForge and Krugle said that the user can now search for specific words within the code or in other sources. Laura Merling, vice president of marketing and business development at Krugle added: “We have parsers that look at the code and evaluate it as if it’s code.”
