Apple iPod has making of a great gift
Apple is in a minority when it comes to personal computing scenery. Their control over development of Macintosh computers has resulted in cheap PCs powered with Microsoft Operating System take over 90%+ of the market share. It was their decision to keep the control and they are doing similar with iPod.
However, they have been insanely successful with iPod. It is already selling like hot cakes and in addition, it brings in tons of extra revenues by driving sales on iTunes. And it seems to have making of a perfect holiday gift!
Not only it has coolness attached to it by its attributes, it has become more of a fashion accessory. In addition, with extended facilities in the newer versions, which can store images, it no longer remains just a music player. More and more people are considering owning one of these devices, which have been termed Walkman of the Digital age. Even better for Apple, reports have indicated that many iPod users love them so much that they have started moving from PCs to Macs.

Key thing here is the R and D. Dell makes econoboxes which are quickly infested with Net droppings. Apple, albeit having stumbled big time in the past, keeps on hitting the sweet spot of peformance mated with cool, with the iPod, the new G5 iMac all-in-one, and so on – and without the curses of using the web with all of Windows’ security problems. What’s not to like about Apple (except Steve Job’s haircut and reality distortion field)?
