Sony launches their Vaio Type-G laptop with flash storage media

Japanese consumer electronics giant Sony has become the latest player in the market to launch notebook products with flash storage media.

The company has launched their lightweight Vaio Type-G laptop featuring this new generation storage media which promises faster access times and low battery consumption.

However, flash memory is more expensive than the traditional hard disks and consumers would be required to pay around US$545 more when they choose a 32GB flash drive over a 40GB hard disk drive.

This Vaio notebook product features a Celeron M 443 (1.20GHz) processor and it would be sold exclusively through Sony’s build-to-order sales channel in Japan.

Sony has not announced any current plans to make available this notebook product in other markets.
