Rumors begin again on a possible iTunes subscription plan
We have already seen enough rumors claiming that Apple is planning to offer a subscription service on their iTunes digital media store.
Now, they are back. A music industry executive has said in a statement that the company is indeed working on such plans.
Les Ottolenghi, the head of Intent Mediaworks was quoted as saying in the media that he’s talked to Apple people about a subscription service.
He said: “I think Apple is seriously considering a subscription offering right now even though they will probably tell you otherwise.”
The market already has several digital media stores offering music on subscription. These include the Real Rhapsody and the Yahoo’s Music Store.
However, considering the fact that Apple iTunes is now offering DRM free music from EMI on their store, it seems unlikely that they would adopt a subscription model for the music.
