Hewlett Packard to offer Via powered machines in China
Via Technologies has announced that they are collaborating with the world’s largest PC manufacturing company HP to launch cheaper computers in the Chinese market.
China is one of the fastest growing internet markets in the world and boasts of the second largest internet users after the United States.
HP would be using Via’s low-cost, low-power chips in their energy-efficient business PCs in the China market.
This deal could prove to be a boon for Via as they compete with the larger players in the PC microprocessor market which is largely dominated by Intel and AMD.
Hewlett Packard incidentally is already using some of the Via’s processors in their lower-profile “thin client” PCs. The latest deal would make HP the first major computer maker to adopt the Via product for a mass-market item.
