Nokia WiMAX phones to arrive in 2008

World’s largest selling mobile phone company Nokia would start launching their WiMAX capable phones starting next year.

The WiMAX technology is the update to the Wi-Fi which would enable the mobile devices to access the internet at very high speeds.

Nokia’s rival Motorola has also announced their plans to launch their WiMAX capable phones starting next year. The WiMAX standard is supported by some of the biggest tech companies out there including Intel, Nokia, Samsung and Motorola.

The company claims that this new standard would make wireless broadband much cheaper to deliver. Even the companies currently developing the equipment supporting WiMAX have said that the infrastructure and handheld devices will be cheaper than 3G systems.
