Froogle is now Google Product Search
Google is rebranding their shopping search engine and it would be now called Google Product Search. This service was called Froogle till now.
The search engine giant has also improved the user interface of the service to make it more user friendly. Marissa Mayer, vice president of search products and user experience at Google spoke on their decision to rename the service: “We were a really young company, and I don’t think we really understood the burden of a new brand. I also think it was very hard to build awareness. Our product offering was very robust, but it will fare better with a Google Product Search name.”
The company has however no plans to promote the service from their Google homepage. It would continue to remain a part of the More option box.
The service has been streamlined to make it more Google search like. Extra options have been moved from the top to the bottom to emphasize the search results more. Google is also heavily promoting their Google Checkout service on this rebranded service.
