Maruti SX4 to come powered with Euro IV and Euro V compliant engines
India’s leading automaker Maruti has said that their future models would come powered with advanced technology engines which would be compliant with stringent Euro IV and Euro V norms.
Their upcoming sedan model Maruti SX4 would be the first product from the company to feature these new generation of engines.
Maruti is investing massively in developing these new engines and these investments are part of the parent company Suzuki’s strategy of complying with stricter emission norms.
Suzuki is already developing the Euro IV and Euro V complaint engines for the European markets and these would now be powering cars in India as well.
Maruti SX4 would come powered with the Suzuki’s M-series engine. These engines are currently being imported from Japan and fitted with a few components at Suzuki Powertrain India’s facility at Manesar near Gurgaon. Maruti aims to increase the localization levels of these engines to cut costs.
Maruti’s SX4 would come powered with the 1.6 liter petrol engine and the car is likely to be priced around Rs. 7 lakhs. It would take on rival products including the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Ford Fiesta.
