Verizon Wireless launches international roaming on Blackberry 8800 variant
Verizon Wireless has announced that they are now making available a variant of the RIM’s Blackberry 8800 device which is compatible with international mobile communication technologies.
Research in Motion had displayed this device in February and is already available through AT&T Inc. in the United States.
Verizon is going to sell the device for USD 400 but interested customers can get it for as little as $200 for customers if they sign up for both voice and data service with a two-year commitment.
They are launching this product with an international data plan costing $20 per month for unlimited e-mail access in about 60 countries. These charges in addition to regular BlackBerry subscription fee of $45 to $50 a month.
The company would be selling locked versions of these devices to ensure the network quality for customers outside the United States.
