EarthLink to study their existing municipal Wi-Fi networks to see future project viability
EarthLink Inc. has said that they plan to study their existing Wi-Fi networks already on in four cities in the United States before deciding on plans to further expand into this market.
EarthLink manages wi-fi networks in Philadelphia, New Orleans and California’s Anaheim and Milpitas.
They have already received proposals from several cities to establish such networks to provide wireless internet connectivity to the people residing in the city.
However, EarthLink has said that they have yet to establish that comfort level that these investments are indeed profitable.
Kevin Dotts, EarthLink’s chief financial officer said in a statement that they would now closely study the four designated markets over the next few months before defining its strategy.
The company has just come out with their latest revenue report and has posted a loss of $29.96 million, or 24 cents per share.
