NBC Universal acquires Rmail
NBC Universal has surprised market experts by acquiring a small company named Rmail. This acquisition is now leading to speculations that the company might shift its focusing markets in the coming years.
Rmail is a two-year-old firm which provides the service of converting RSS feeds into emails. Market sources claim that the deal cost them a mere $150,000.
However, the company does not have a lot of subscribers as they currently seem to be serving just around 50,000 customers.
NBC Universal chief digital officer George Kliavkoff spoke about this acquisition deal: “Rmail is the first brick in building a pyramid that will provide a technology base that will make us better at engaging and targeting audiences.”
He added: “It’s a way for us to start learning about how to pay attention to what customers are doing and make predictive understandings of what they might be interested in and start learning about RSS.”
Kliavkoff further said about the use of RSS on their services: “We have tons of it, but as a company we’ve never paid attention as to how we can improve the technology.”
