Michael S Sutton Ltd. files a patent lawsuit against Nokia

After Qualcomm, now a New Zealand-based company Michael S Sutton Ltd. is targeting the world’s largest mobile phone maker with patent related lawsuits.

The company has claimed in their lawsuit that Nokia is infringing a data packaging technology patent owned by them.

They are also seeking damages from Nokia for infringing on their copyrights. Sutton has claimed in its lawsuit that Nokia is using in its messaging applications technology.

The lawsuit has been filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

Nokia has responded that they would defend its rights in this latest lawsuit filed against them. A company representative added: “This case was previously filed against Nokia and then voluntarily dismissed by the plaintiff. We will analyze the details of the new case which was filed on 30 April, 2007 and actively defend the rights of Nokia.”
