Creative Technology scheduled to launch new MP3 players
Apple continues to dominate the MP3 player market with their iPod range of players. Motorola with their Zune along with Sony, SanDisk and Creative are the companies trying to catch-up.
Creative however plans to launch a series of new digital media players in the coming weeks. They are not however releasing any specific details on these new players.
Craig McHugh, president of Creative Labs Inc. said in a statement: “With the imminent release of some of our exciting new MP3 players we wanted to wait for the press release and the global launch. I don’t want to go into depth on that but we do have something very exciting coming in the MP3 area.”
This is a different tactic followed by the company as they usually shared details of new products with investors ahead of their launch dates.
As per data made available by the market research firm IDC, Creative continues to remain the second largest MP3 player manufacturer in the world after Apple.
However, they are struggling and posting losses in their quarterly reports. The company has just now reported a US$23.6 million loss for the third quarter. They had sales of $183.8 million during its fiscal third quarter.
