Nokia launches Barracuda and six other new mobile phones

World’s largest mobile phone maker Nokia has launched seven new mobile phone products. One of these is a thin ‘Barracuda’ phone.

Nokia also launched a couple of entry level mobile phones. The company also announced the Nokia 1200 which would be their cheapest model yet in the market.

Nokia 1200 is expected to go on sale for 35 Euros. Nokia’s 2630 or the Barracuda mobile phone is an attempt to take on the slim phones in the market which are pretty popular. It is slightly below 10 millimeters. This model from the company would retail for 85 Euros.

Kai Oistamo, head of Nokia’s mobile phones unit spoke on their new products at launch ceremony: “At these prices the largest volumes are sold — on both developed and emerging markets. Of course we expect to see very high volumes from Barracuda.”

He added: “It was a sign of change in the overall thinking …. It’s the whole new approach to marketing and communications as a whole, clearly less conservative and somewhat more aggressive and forward-looking than earlier.”
