Now Thai government could file a lawsuit against YouTube
The problems for Google owned YouTube seems to be growing even more. The Thailand’s army-backed government has revealed their plans to file a lawsuit against the US based video sharing service.
They are upset over the YouTube’s handling of the videos insulting their King Bhumibol Adulyadej on the service uploaded by its users.
Vissanu Meeyo, a spokesman for the information ministry Thai Government said in a statement: “We are considering taking legal action against the website.”
They are considering suing YouTube over charges of lese majeste which means insulting the monarchy which is considering a serious crime in the country.
Incidentally, the Thai Government continues to block access to YouTube in the country after they felt that the company was not doing enough to prevent uploads of videos which were mocking their king.
YouTube is already facing lawsuits from both Viacom and English Premier League in relation to uploads of copyrighted videos by their users.
