Comcast SmartZone to integrate e-mail and voicemail online

US based cable operator Comcast has said that they are planning to integrate their e-mail and voice messaging services in a new Web-based communications center named Comcast SmartZone.

The aim is to attract more users to their free services and the company claims that the SmartZone feature would let their 12 million high-speed Internet subscribers to access their voice mail and e-mail from the same online platform.

The service would also feature instant messaging and an interactive address book. This service would also be available to their 3 million digital phone subscribers.

Comcast said that they believe that this kind of a combined service would help them strengthen its relationship with subscribers who at the moment could be lured away by competing services.

Catherine Avgiris, senior vice president of voice services at Comcast added: “It’s about making our products work better together wherever you want them available. Customers can use that functionality to simplify their lives, helping us maintain that relationship and loyalty with them.”
